Farm and Relax in Petunia’s Purgatory
Dead Possum Games has revealed that the studio is planning to launch Petunia’s Purgatory on Steam in June 2026. The husband-wife duo is partnering with publisher Level Up Gaming for the release. Players can already wishlist the game and try out a free demo ahead of launch.
Petunia’s Purgatory combines idle gameplay with farming mechanics and delivers a creepy yet playful experience. It draws huge inspiration from other titles like Rusty’s Retirement and Cult of the Lamb. The game sits at the bottom of your screen, allowing you to manage your farm while doing other tasks on your PC. You plant twisted crops, harvest disturbing resources, and sacrifice critters to collect blood, which keeps your farm running. You can also summon strange but helpful companions and upgrade them to boost their efficiency.
The story follows Petunia Buttonwillow, who leaves her exhausting advertising job and moves to the countryside in search of a fresh start. She settles into an abandoned farm in Dunwich, but quickly discovers that something unnatural already lives there and demands constant feeding.
The game also challenges players to manage Petunia’s sanity. As you continue harvesting horrific crops and performing grim tasks, her mental state begins to decline. You must plant flowers and decorate the farm to stabilize her mind. At the same time, the lurking Eldritch force starts to distort reality, causing unsettling effects that spill onto your desktop.
With its distinctive mix of idle systems, dark humor, and psychological twists, Petunia’s Purgatory stands out as a unique indie title. It looks set to offer a memorable experience when it arrives this June.
