Topdeck Automat Opens Pre-Registration for Its Upcoming Steam Playtest

Take Back the Planet in Topdeck Automat

Indie developer Fabian Fischer, better known as Ludokultur, has announced an upcoming public playtest for Topdeck Automat, a chaotic roguelike auto-battler where your deck quite literally prints itself. Pre-registration is now live on Steam, giving players an early chance to experience the studio’s latest experiment in strategic mayhem.

Set in a dark sci-fi future, Topdeck Automat throws players into a world where alien invaders have conquered Earth and wiped out humanity’s defenses. The only machines left untouched? Harmless worker droids such as office assistants, flyer printers, and vending machines. Now hacked and reprogrammed for combat, these unlikely heroes rise to reclaim the planet. Players take control of one such droid, equipping it with synergistic blueprints to survive relentless alien hordes.

The game blends deckbuilding depth with auto-battler chaos, featuring over 200 cards and a flexible upgrade system that allows for near-infinite combinations. More than 100 stackable modules provide powerful passive effects, enabling wildly overpowered builds for those clever enough to discover them. Runs are further shaken up by 20 dynamic weather effects that force constant adaptation.

Players will face 50 enemy types, elite variants, and a dozen bosses, while unlocking 30 unique characters that dramatically alter playstyles. It also features granular difficulty options, including a no-permadeath mode, which ensures accessibility for all skill levels.

The art and animations come from Victor Negreiro (Estivador), while Ludokultur leads design and programming. Inspired by the absurdist sci-fi humor of Douglas Adams, Topdeck Automat embraces both strategy and silliness in equal measure. The public playtest is coming soon, so wishlist and register now to join the uprising.
