A Solitary Quest Awaits in Silent Planet
Developer Vertex Zero and publisher Red Dunes Games have announced Silent Planet – Elegy of a Dying World, a gothic sci-fi adventure coming to Steam for PC in Q2 2027, with console versions planned later. The title marks the debut release from Canadian indie studio Vertex Zero, co-founded by James Alex Santoro and Virginie Cabana. The small ensemble team also brings experience from studios such as Eidos Montreal, Rogue Factor, and The Game Kitchen.
Set in the year 2997, the game follows Apranik as she confronts the collapse of her world after a catastrophic planetary disaster. Driven by desperation and hope, she sets out alone to find the Angel’s Egg, an ancient artifact forged by the Primeval Ones and believed to hold the secret to all life in the universe.
Her journey takes her deep into a forsaken megacomplex, a structure once envisioned as humanity’s salvation but now reduced to a vast tomb on a desolate planet in a dying solar system. Beyond the long-forgotten Starseer Portals, she may uncover the last remnants of the Shunned Ones and truths buried for millennia.
Inspired by classics like Castlevania: Symphony of the Night and Super Metroid, Silent Planet blends gothic atmosphere with layered exploration and deep RPG systems. The narrative unfolds organically as players explore, revealing the world piece by piece. Combat erupts suddenly when grotesque creatures emerge from the shadows, demanding sharp reflexes and strategic thinking. As Apranik pushes through claustrophobic corridors and bio-decayed ruins, players must survive relentless horrors in a universe that offers no mercy.
