Aether & Iron Is Bringing Its Narrative RPG on PC This Spring

Enter an Alternate 1930s in Aether & Iron

Seismic Squirrel has announced that Aether & Iron will launch on PC via Steam in Spring 2026. This narrative-driven RPG casts players as Gia, a seasoned smuggler trying to survive the ruthless criminal underworld of an alternate 1930s New York City. Blending character-focused storytelling with turn-based vehicular combat, the game features writing talent with credits on Mass Effect, Far Cry, and Sovereign Syndicate.

Set in a reimagined New York reshaped by the discovery of “aether,” the city has grown upward into a towering vertical metropolis powered by anti-gravitational technology. This breakthrough fuels both progress and corruption, creating a dangerous world where ambition often comes at a brutal cost. Players will build and customize a fleet of aether-powered vehicles, outfitting them with weapons, armor, and upgrades tailored to their playstyle.

Throughout the journey, players can recruit a diverse cast of companions, each bringing distinct abilities and personalities to the crew. These allies play a critical role in combat encounters and narrative moments alike. Player choice sits at the heart of the experience, influencing relationships, story outcomes, and the fate of the city.

Character progression centers on three core attributes, namely Hustle, Smarts, and Brass. They affect combat effectiveness, dialogue options, and social interactions. What begins as a routine job soon spirals into a city-wide conspiracy, forcing Gia to confront her past. All while forging uneasy alliances and deciding whether New York’s citizens can still find hope in a deeply corrupt system.

Aether & Iron will support multiple languages at launch, and players can try a free demo on Steam now, ahead of its Spring 2026 release.
