Glasshouse Opens Its Pre-Alpha Playtest on Steam

Welcome to Glasshouse

FLAT28 Collective has opened the pre-alpha playtest of Glasshouse, running from November 22 to December 7 on Steam. This early look marks the first time players can step inside the project the team has been shaping since 2022 in their spare hours and without a formal budget.

Glasshouse is built as a compact CRPG Lite for adults who enjoy deep role-playing but no longer have the time for sprawling hundred-hour adventures. Its tone draws from classic thrillers, apartment living, and the shifting conversations that unfold at crowded bar counters. The pre-alpha demo offers approximately forty minutes of content from Act I, providing players with ample room to explore Dormitory 73B. They will also get to test an early version of turn-based combat. As well as experiment with a customizable political build that anchors the game’s themes.

Set within a condominium under lockdown on the brink of a world war, Glasshouse blends feudalpunk style with a grounded sense of place. The story begins with a crime scene and three bodies, leaving players to decide whether to take charge of the block, uncover hidden tensions among the residents, or focus on escape before the situation worsens further.

The reveal trailer introduces the world with the help of Stefanie Joosten, Ryan Cooper, and Andy Mack, who joined as collaborators to support the project. As an independent effort created at zero cost, the game does not currently plan full voice acting for its final release. Their participation in the trailer serves as encouragement for the team and as a signal to potential partners interested in helping expand its scope.

Players interested in emerging CRPG ideas and tightly focused storytelling can try the pre-alpha on Steam throughout the playtest window.
