Dave Arrives in Magicraft
Wave Game Studio and Bilibili Games have released a new free DLC for Magicraft, the popular spellcraft action roguelike, featuring a crossover with Dave the Diver. This update introduces new handcrafted stages, formidable bosses, and a complete technical overhaul powered by DOTS optimization, marking the next evolution of the game’s magical systems.
Since its full release in 2024, Magicraft has sold over 700,000 copies worldwide and holds a 90% “Very Positive” rating on Steam, earning recognition as one of China’s most successful indie roguelikes. The new crossover blends Dave the Diver’s underwater charm with Magicraft’s mystical world, adding both creative flair and technical sophistication.
In this crossover adventure, Dave dives into the arcane realm of Magicraft armed with his signature harpoon to battle massive sea creatures, including the Giant Squid, the Truck Hermit Crab Truck, and John Watson. Players can enhance the harpoon with magical runes such as Triple Axel and Harpoon Tip, introducing new strategies and combat possibilities. The update also features fresh environments inspired by Bancho Sushi and Sea People Record, each filled with hidden secrets and interactive elements.
Under the hood, Magicraft receives its most comprehensive performance upgrade to date. The developers have rebuilt the game’s core using DOTS, resulting in smoother spellcasting, improved collision and summoning systems, and refined visual effects. Adjustments to spell formulas and damage balance provide even more ways to experiment with rune combinations.
Meanwhile, the mobile edition of Magicraft is nearing completion and is expected to launch by the end of 2025. Built with DOTS optimization and touch-friendly controls, it aims to bring the full spellcraft experience to mobile players while maintaining the game’s signature depth and style.
