Indie developer unbreaded, in collaboration with publishing platform indie.io, has revealed the launch date for Tic Tactic, a roguelike deckbuilding puzzle battler that reimagines the timeless game of tic-tac-toe. The title will arrive on Steam on September 18, 2025.
Tic Tactic takes the simple rules of childhood play and twists them into a tense, strategic contest. Instead of clearing after each round, the board remains in play, making every placement both an opportunity and a risk. Players battle turn by turn, creating combos on the grid to deal damage, disrupt enemies, and trigger chain reactions that grow in intensity as the board fills.
At the heart of the experience lies the deckbuilding system. More than two dozen unique tiles offer moves that range from sweeping board-clearing abilities to precise strikes designed to break an opponent’s plan. With each run, players can refine strategies, test fresh combinations, and adapt to increasingly dangerous foes. The design rewards clever positioning and long-term thinking, turning a familiar pastime into a layered, high-stakes battleground.
The world surrounding the board is equally intriguing. As players push deeper, they encounter unusual survivors, hostile deserters, and scattered fragments of a larger mystery tied to the Duck Pond. Distinct environments and a roguelike progression system ensure variety, with procedurally generated encounters and rewards keeping every attempt fresh. A global leaderboard adds further incentive, inviting players to showcase persistence, creativity, and skill.
