Brave the Cold in Arctic Awakening
After five years in development, GoldFire Studios is launching its cinematic first-person narrative adventure Arctic Awakening for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S on September 18.
The story begins with a routine supply run to a remote Alaskan town. Pilots Kai and Donovan expect nothing more than to finish the job and share a celebratory drink. With the autopilot engaged and Kai’s therapy companion bot, Alfie, momentarily silent, the flight seems uneventful until a violent storm tears their small aircraft apart. Donovan vanishes into the blizzard, and the shattered plane plummets into the frozen wilderness.
Players step into the role of Kai, waking alone in the snow, far from the wreckage. Donovan is missing, temperatures are dropping fast, and the only companion is Alfie, a court-mandated robot that is not exactly welcome company. Survival depends on navigating the icy expanse, searching for shelter, and uncovering the truth behind the mysterious storm.
Arctic Awakening promises an atmospheric blend of exploration, survival, and mystery. Players will traverse sweeping frozen landscapes and discover hidden structures that hold secrets beneath the snow. These are secrets that could alter everything Kai believes.
The game features full voice acting under the direction of Julian Kwasneski, whose work includes Firewatch, Telltale Games, and LucasArts classics. Narrative consultant Evan Skolnick brings experience from Marvel, Telltale, and LucasArts. The cast includes Jason Maniccia, Alejandro Saab, Dave B. Mitchell, Cia Court, and Mara Junot, bringing depth and personality to each character encountered along the journey.
When Arctic Awakening launches this September, players can expect a gripping narrative, a richly detailed world, and an emotional journey into the heart of the frozen unknown.
