9 Kings Introduces a New King in Its Latest Update

Let’s Welcome the New King

Hooded Horse and developer Sad Socket have unveiled the latest update for 9 Kings, the popular roguelite strategy game currently in Steam Early Access. With seven Kings already available, Update 13 introduces the eighth: the King of Nomads.

This new ruler arrives from the snowy north, commanding a band of fearsome reptilian warriors who bring a fresh tactical edge to the battlefield. Unlike previous leaders, the King of Nomads focuses on troop-heavy decks with minimal reliance on buildings. His strategy emphasizes mobility, encouraging players to shuffle key structures, occupy new territory, and abandon old positions to stay ahead.

Two key cards define his playstyle: the Camp, a powerful structure that boosts new card placements, and the Dragon’s Den, a destructive summoning building that thrives in the chaos of constant movement. The result is a dynamic and aggressive style that rewards adaptability and map control.

Update 13 doesn’t stop at the new King. It also brings improvements to the game’s RNG system and several quality of life enhancements to streamline gameplay. A developer diary provides more insight into the design philosophy behind the King of Nomads and what players can expect from this latest addition.

9 Kings remains in Early Access on PC via Steam. The game is available for just 19.99 USD, 17.99 GBP, 19.99 EUR, or 1980 JPY. It holds a strong 92% “Very Positive” rating from over 10,000 reviews. With just one more King left to be revealed, the end of the early access cycle draws near.

Hooded Horse has partnered with INSTINCT3 for promotion in the GAS region, covering Germany, Austria, and Switzerland.
