Space Scum Just Dropped Its First Gameplay Trailer

Take a Look at Space Scum

Developer Sole Survivor Games and publisher Forklift Interactive have unveiled the first gameplay trailer for Space Scum, a tactical RPG set in a gritty, comic book-inspired sci-fi universe. Players can dive into the action this August with a hands-on Steam demo. Or they can try it in person at the Indie Arena Booth during Gamescom, from August 20 to 24, 2025.

In Space Scum, you will build the most fearsome Mercenary Company in the galaxy’s outer rim. Recruit a diverse squad of soldiers for hire, each with unique combat roles. Whether it is a brute with an oversized axe or a tech-savvy operative who can hijack enemy defenses, the right mercenary can turn the tide of battle. But be warned: permadeath ensures that when a merc falls, they are gone for good.

Between battles, use rewards and loot from successful missions to upgrade your ship, stock up on weapons, and replace lost crew members. Customize your team with specialists ranging from expert marksmen and hackers to shielded tanks capable of absorbing damage and creating openings for allies.

Every playthrough of Space Scum will never be the same. Players can shape their Mercenary Company’s origin story and explore procedurally generated planets that promise fresh challenges and shifting allegiances. Navigate a tangled web of rival factions, forge alliances, betray partners, and claw your way to power—just do not expect loyalty to last long in this ruthless universe.

Space Scum combines deep strategy, dark humor, and brutal consequences into a dynamic, player-driven experience coming soon to PC.
