Macabre Just Dropped a New Trailer, Demo Coming Out During Steam Next Fest

Take a Look at Macabre

Australian indie developer WeForge Studio has released a new gameplay trailer and announced the first public demo of Macabre, its upcoming co-op stealth extraction horror game. The demo will be available exclusively during Steam Next Fest, from 9 to 16 June.

Titled Banjo’s Trial, the demo offers players an early look at the game’s eerie world known as the Rift. Guided by NPC Banjo, players are tasked with gathering intel on a shapeshifting horror called the Crawler. They are a terrifying presence that evolves based on player behavior. This trial introduces many of the systems that define Macabre, including procedurally generated maps, shifting mission objectives, and a strong focus on co-op extraction gameplay designed for unpredictability and replayability.

Set in the Snowgum Retreat, a hostile and ever-changing environment, players will navigate dangerous terrain filled with evolving threats. You can play the demo solo or team up with up to three others in a tense PvE co-op experience. The game demands teamwork, but trust never comes easily.
Players must loot, sneak, and survive long enough to escape with whatever they can carry.

Key features of the demo include access to early-game equipment, tools for experimentation, and dynamic weather systems that can dramatically alter visibility and strategy. From dense fog to sudden storms, no two runs will feel the same.

Macabre offers a fresh take on stealth horror by blending extraction mechanics with adaptive enemy AI and procedural design. For those ready to enter the Rift, Banjo’s Trial provides a compelling first look at what lies ahead.
