Welcome to the Scottish Highlands in Clanfolk
Now is the perfect time to try Clanfolk, the medieval colony-building sim from MinMax Games and publisher Hooded Horse. Set in the Scottish Highlands, the game has just received its most significant update yet, opening up new possibilities beyond the homestead.
Update 17 introduces a world map, unlocked through the mid-game Planning Table. Players can now send clan members across more than 500 hex-based territories. Over 100 expeditions are available, each offering unique events and valuable rewards, including access to rare technologies.
Some advanced tools and training, such as Steelmaking, can only be learned from the castles of other clans. The update also adds over 60 historically authentic recipes, items, and worktables, further expanding the clan’s technological progress and strategic depth. This is only the beginning of the game’s world expansion. Future updates are expected to add even more features, including the ability to build multiple settlements across the map.
Update 17 follows the March release of Update 16, which introduced difficulty modes, new environments, flooding mechanics, and a variety of new objects, including baby toys, turnip lamps, and dried berries.
Clanfolk is available on PC through Steam Early Access for $29.99, £24.99, €29.99, or ¥3,980. It is currently 50% off until May 30, 2025. For the full list of changes and additions, check out the patch notes.
