Laika: Aged Through Blood is Western Meets Metroidvania
A post apocalyptic world soaked in blood and rust, a mother and a warrior, a road of vengeance. All of this and more awaits those players willing to embark into the world of this metroidvania. Today, Thunderful and Brainwash Gang are happy to announce that their upcoming metroidvania, Laika: Aged Through Blood, will release on January 30th, 2025 for the Nintendo Switch. The game invites players to a beautifully hand-painted world encompassing fast-paced, vehicular combat, and a deep story of love and vengeance. Combining both a western-style aesthetic with metroidvania gameplay, the game looks to rev-up a classic formula and bring a new experience to players. A press release provides more details on the game.Â
Laika: Aged in Blood tells the story of a mother coyote, a warrior belonging to an oppressed tribe. Importantly, as the mother coyote, players will follow a story driven by vengeance to take back what her people lost. Yet, during this tale, players will also uncover a deep mother-daughter relationship and a story of loss and reclamation. Interestingly, the game combines classic metroidvania sidescrolling but cranks it up to 11 with the inclusion of a motorcycle. Of course, players are going to need this bike to traverse the wastelands of this post-apocalyptic world. However, they will need more than just their bike. Luckily, players are armed and dangerous, using their gun on their motorbike as well as various skills designed to take on varied bosses across a diverse world full of missions.Â
