Pine: A Story of Loss Has Arrived on Switch, PC, and Mobile Devices

Feel the Emotion in Pine: A Story of Loss

Fellow Traveller and Made Up Games have officially released their latest title, Pine: A Story of Loss. This touching, emotional story about a grieving woodworker is now available on PC, Nintendo Switch, IOS, and Android.

The game tells a heartfelt story set in a beautifully illustrated forest glade. Players follow a woodworker as he navigates his daily tasks, often pausing to reflect on the cherished memories of a loved one he has lost. Traditional gameplay elements take a backseat, allowing the emotional journey to shine.

Tom Booth, an illustrator for Dreamworks and Nickelodeon, teamed up with his friend, programmer Najati Imam, to create Made Up Games. They explored various ways to share their ideas—videos, short stories, illustrations, and more. In the end, they chose a short video game to tell the story of a grieving woodworker. This decision was inspired by Tom’s personal experience with grief. Which originally led him to create the illustrations that became the heart of this wordless, emotional tale.

Pine: A Story of Loss is an interactive journey that draws its inspiration from Tom’s own experience with grief. It explores life after loss, making it deeply personal and emotional. While its focus on grief may not resonate with everyone, the story offers moments of beauty and hope as a woodworker navigates his sorrow. This unique experience speaks to the universal yet deeply individual nature of loss, touching each person differently.
