Percy Jackson Star Weighs In on Fan Suggestions and Shares Insights into His Connection with the Iconic Zelda Franchise
The much-anticipated Legend of Zelda movie is currently in development, leaving fans speculating about the potential cast. A popular suggestion has been Percy Jackson star Walker Scobell, a 14-year-old actor. However, Scobell has expressed mixed feelings about taking on the role of Link, the iconic protagonist of the Zelda franchise.
In a conversation with Variety, Scobell revealed, “I don’t know if I’d be interested in playing Link.” Despite this uncertainty, he conveyed that if approached by the studio, he would “definitely consider it, 100%.”
While Scobell admitted to playing The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, he confessed that he hasn’t yet tried Tears of the Kingdom. However, he shared that his father is a devoted fan of the series, stating, “My dad loves Legend of Zelda. He played the games when he was younger.”
The casting speculation for Link and Zelda has been rampant, with fan suggestions circulating widely. Euphoria star Hunter Schafer has emerged as a fan-favorite for the role of Zelda, and she expressed enthusiasm, saying, “That would be so cool. I love the game, personally. I played it as a kid, and I still play it now.”
Directed by Wes Ball, known for Maze Runner, the live-action Zelda movie aims to infuse a Miyazaki-like “wonder and whimsy” into the film. The collaboration between Nintendo and Sony Pictures, with Avi Arad from Marvel and Shigeru Miyamoto from Nintendo producing, promises a unique cinematic experience.
While specifics about the movie, including the cast and release date, remain undisclosed, the project has heightened expectations given the monumental success of The Super Mario Bros. Movie, which grossed over $1 billion at the global box office this year. Although a sequel to the Mario movie is yet to be officially announced, fans remain hopeful for Nintendo’s next blockbuster cinematic venture.
