Slay the Princess is Now on Steam

Slay the Princess Can Now Be Played

Slay the Princess, the surreal horror visual novel crafted by Black Tabby Games (known for their work on Scarlet Hollow), is now available on PC via Steam, Mac, and Linux, with full support for the Steam Deck.

The game unfolds in a mysterious and eerie forest where dense trees part to reveal a solitary cabin atop a small hill. The Narrator, voiced by Jonathan Sims from The Magnus Archives, delivers a chilling directive: enter the cabin and slay the princess. The world’s fate hangs in the balance, or so you’re told.

The princess, brought to life by the voice acting of Nichole Goodnight, has no intention of yielding to her fate. She’ll stop at nothing to secure her freedom. You face a moral quandary—will you obediently follow the directive to slay the princess, or will you entertain her pleas for mercy? After all, she’s the one imprisoned, and it’s the Narrator who insists on her demise.

The cycle repeats with the same haunting task: Slay the Princess. Yet, something is different this time. She may have transformed into a monstrous entity by biting her own arm off to escape her shackles, but she’s a different kind of monster this time around. And why does everything revolve around this cabin? Why is the Narrator all-knowing yet requires your intervention to save the world by executing the princess?

In this evolving narrative, player choices wield a significant influence, leading to a variety of unforeseen outcomes and character interactions. Players must navigate this monochromatic, hand-drawn world crafted by Abby Howard, an Ignatz Award-winning graphic novelist known for works like The Crossroads at Midnight and The Last Halloween. Prepare to confront the bizarre and world-altering consequences that follow your decisions.

Tony Howard-Arias, Lead Writer at Black Tabby Games, emphasizes the narrative’s flexibility: “It’s up to you to decide the truth. There is no one way through this story, and how players arrive at situations alters the narrative trajectory as much as the scenarios themselves. We’re so curious to see how players react to the story’s context changing along the way and how that affects their decisions moving forward.”

Slay the Princess is now available on Steam and GOG for PC, Mac, Linux, and Steam Deck, priced at $17.99 with a 10% launch discount. Players can also purchase a Supporter’s Pack for $9.99, which includes the game’s OST. For added value, a bundled discount is offered alongside Black Tabby Games’ Early Access title, Scarlet Hollow.
