And Voting Is Now Currently Open for the Public
The Game Awards, which had been solely live-streamed in 2020, will go live, in-person ceremony at the Microsoft Theater on Thursday, December 9, 2021. With the presentation, there will be The Game Awards Orchestra, conducted by Lorne Valfe, as well as live streaming so others may watch at a safe distance. There is also set to be live performances, as well as the Orchestra. More information on the performances, as well as the presenters, will be announced later in the weeks coming up, according to the news source.
Some of the game categories are: Game of the Year, Best Game Direction, Best Ongoing, Best Indie, among others, as the list of possible awards, are at thirty at this time. The games that are currently up for Game of the Year are:
Deathloop (Arkane Studios/Bethesda)
It Takes Two (Hazelight Studios/EA)
Metroid Dread (Mercury Steam/Nintendo)
Psychonauts 2 (Double Fine/Xbox Game Studios)
Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart (Insomniac Games/SIE)
Resident Evil Village (Capcom)
Currently, Xbox Games and Bethesda have the most nominations with 20 across the board, with Sony trailing behind with 11, and SQUARE ENIX and Electronic Arts trailing behind at ten nominations each. These are selected through an international jury of 100 media publications and influencer outlets, which may hopefully avoid favoritism. Deathloop, currently, appears to be the game with the most nominations across the board, at seven. But there are some other games that have multiple nominations, such as Resident Evil: Village, It Takes Two, and Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart.
Games, developers, and studios alike can only win through fan voting. If you want to make your vote for any of the categories, voting is live now and can be done through the game awards site, unless they are in China. Those in China can cast their votes through Bilibili. Also, the Game Awards team is encouraging the use of Twitter in order to determine the winner of the Best Esports Team as well as using The Game Awards Discord server.
