Genshin Impact Developers Announce New Turn Based Game

Turn Based Game to Continue Mihoyo’s Honkai Impact Franchise in a Space Adventure

Mihoyo, the Chinese developers behind Genshin Impact, have just announced their newest game – this time a turn-based RPG set in space.  The first closed-beta test for this game, Honkai: Star Rail, will begin tomorrow, on October 8th.

Genshin Impact was possibly the biggest mobile sensation in a long while, featuring a full-fledged RPG experience likened to an anime Zelda: Breath of the Wild.   Like the rest of Mihoyo’s games, Genshin Impact is a gacha game, and thus Honkai: Star Rail is expected to be one as well.  It appears that Honkai: Star Rail will share some the same universe as Honkai Impact, which is a hack and slash game also released by Mihoyo.  The closed-beta test for this game will take place on the PC and iOS for select members, so if you’d like a shot make sure to fill out their sign up survey.

So far, Honkai: Star Rail appears to be a fully fledged JRPG, complete with dungeon exploration and turn based combat.  If Genshin Impact is anything to go off, Honkai: Star Rail may also feature a full story and game experience – for free.  So far, a large roster of ten characters have been revealed, and it features some recurring characters from Honkai Impact such as Himeko.  The main gameplay, as stated before, will be turn based, with each character following a pre-determined turn order based on their speed.  In addition, the visual aesthetic seems to follow Mihoyo’s previous game releases of Genshin Impact and Honkai Impact 3rd – a cel-shaded anime aesthetic.

What do you think of the latest Mihoyo game? Are you excited to try the game out and will you sign up for the closed beta? Let us know down in the comments, or hit us up on Twitter or Facebook.
