On This Harvest Moon
When the Harvest Moon series made the switch to a new title and branding back in 2014, fans of the series were understandably worried that the newly-titled Story of Seasons games wouldn’t live up to the classic farming sim heights of the original series. Of course, since then Story of Seasons has proved itself through and through, with four successful titles that have kept the spirit of Harvest Moon alive – if not the name. The most recent release, Pioneers of Olive Town, has been steadily releasing the DLC content included in its expansion pass, and now the third content pack has been released on the Nintendo eShop.
In the Terracotta Oasis Expansion, players will be able to explore a tropical new location that’s home to a few familiar faces. The dramatic farmer Giorgio, the legendary chef Raeger, the famed author Iris and the eccentric doctor Marian will be making a return to the series, last seen in the 3DS Story of Season title. Of course, any Story Of Seasons DLC worth its salt will be adding a few new romance options, and this one’s no different – you’ll be able to sweep Raeger and Iris off their feet for a fairy tale wedding in the Oasis.
Pioneers of Olive Town has another 2 expansions on the way as part of the Expansion Pass: this July is set to see the release of the Legendary Sprite Dance sub-scenario, bringing a brand-new plot to the Earth Sprite Village as the sprites seek to bring back their legendary dance along with a feast for the ages, whether or not the Boss Sprite allows it. In August 2021, an expansion more akin to the Terracotta Oasis will be released, adding the Twilight Isle area and four characters last seen in Story Of Seasons: Trio of Towns.
