Striking Distance Studios Will Announce Their First Game at the Game Awards

The Studio is Headed by Dead Space Veteran Glen Schofield

While the Game Awards is primarily made to commend games that have already been released, the show is always full of new and exciting game announcements. This year is no different with the show’s Executive Producer and Host, Geoff Keighley, stating that the show will have 12-15 announcements in a reply to a comment on a Reddit post he made about the show.

One announcement we know will be present at this year’s show, is the announcement of the first ever game by Striking Distance Studios. Striking Distance is a new studio being led by industry veteran Glen Schofield. You may recognize Schofield as the creator of the Dead Space franchise, and co-founder of Sledgehammer Games, Inc. who co-developed and assisted on several Call of Duty titles from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 to most recently, Call of Duty Black Ops: Cold War.

Confirmation of the new studio’s presence at the Game Awards was shared through the official Game Awards twitter account.

It’s hard to take a guess as to what this new title will be, seeing as the studio has no prior games to take speculation from. That being said, with Schofield’s background being in first-person shooters, there’s a good chance the first title from his newest studio will be in that genre. Only time will tell for sure, but not too much time as the game awards are happening in just over 24 hours!
