Those Who Fight Further
(MILD SPOILERS): Final Fantasy VII Remake is not officially out yet, but some people are getting it a bit early. Some have even beaten the game and unlocked the New Game Plus mode. Not a lot of Final Fantasy games have New Game Plus modes, but they are always welcome. Final Fantasy VII Remake’s endgame options are more geared towards clean-up for Trophy hunters and those who want an extra challenge. There are two main features unlocked by completing the game such as chapter select and Hard mode.
Chapter select brings you to the beginning of any chapter, but you retain all your gear, levels, and Materia. This way, you can return to any mission, objective, or minigame, but if what you are looking something that happens at the end of a chapter, you may have to play through a lot of content to reach it. Upon beating the main game, you will receive an XP boost, so reaching the level cap won’t require a big grind. You will also be able to play on Hard mode, but unlike the other difficulties, you will not be able to toggle it on and off on the fly; once you select it, you will have to play though the entire chapter or back out. The chapter select marks whether or not you have beaten a chapter on Hard mode, so there is no cheesing it.
Toward the end of the game, there is a combat simulator that players can use. There are some simulations that are only available in Hard mode. Hard mode also slightly changes the way MP is restored. Normally, rest points restore both HP and MP, but only HP is restored at these points in Hard mode. This make MP a more important commodity. Final Fantasy VII Remake will be out on April 10th for PS4.
