The Favourite Child and Middle Child
PC, Xbox One, PS4, and Nintendo Switch may finally have their remastered releases of Final Fantasy 7 and 8, but something from their original era is missing. They were each contained on 3 and 4 disks respectively, but due to their current digital nature, we don’t get that. We don’t get to hold them in our hands. But some people will. A physical Final Fantasy 7 and 8 bundle will be coming to Switch owners! In Asia! No one else! It doesn’t translate in text, but that went from excitement to upset.
Do not lose hope though. Yes, sometime this year, physical copies of Final Fantasy 7 and 8 will be released exclusively in Asian territories, but! That may just be feeler for the demand. The two games will have English language options, so A) if you are in desperate need of these physical copies, you can import it, and B) it shouldn’t be too hard to make default English copies, if Square Enix wanted. If fans want it, you just need to be vocal about it. Break out your finest parchment, quill and ink, and write a letter in your best calligraphy to Mr. Square Enix.
There is no specific release date for the Eastern release of this bundle, but we can expect it to go on sale before the end of the year. If we ever will get this in North America, it will not likely be until 2020 at the earliest.
