Final Fantasy 7 Remake’s Classic Mode Takes the Game Back to Its Turn-Based Roots
Final Fantasy fans who don’t like the real-time modern combat of the upcoming Final Fantasy 7 Remake will have the option to play the remake with the original’s turn-based combat by using the remake’s Classic Mode.
“In the original #FinalFantasy VII, you would wait around until the ATB Gauge fills up, and then select a move to initiate your attack,” the remake’s Twitter account revealed on Saturday. “With Classic Mode in #FF7R the team have re-created the same style of play!”
“In standard modes, the ATB Gauge fills up by repeatedly attacking your enemy, but in Classic Mode this aspect of gameplay is handled automatically,” read another tweet. “The player does not need to do anything and the character fights automatically, charging up their ATB Gauge.”
“So anyone playing #FinalFantasy VII Remake in Classic Mode does not have to worry about the action side of the combat system, and can instead focus on selecting commands,” the account further explained, “making it possible to play #FF7R as if it were a classic menu-based RPG!”
