Borderlands 3 Cosplay Guides Reveal Quite a Bit About the Vault Hunters

Cosplayers Get Tips and Close-Ups from Gearbox

Cosplaying is an undeniably popular and important part of gaming culture. Publishers and developers love it, but aside from selling actual costumes, there isn’t a lot they can do to directly influence fans to cosplay. Gearbox found a way in the Borderlands 3 Cosplay Guides for the new Vault Hunters. On the Borderlands site, under the Media page, Gearbox released PDFs containing close ups on gear and colour codes for different pieces of clothing. This will save hardcore cosplayers and designers from painstakingly analyzing screenshots and and help them get the most accurate looks as quickly as possible. These PDFs also reveal some background information on these characters, too.

According to Amara’s Cosplay Guide, she grew up in the slums of Partali. If that’s on Pandora or another planet is anyone’s guess. Her Phasetrance ability conjures up four more arms that can shoot beams of energy or crush enemies. Her Class Mod looks like a scroll. We do not really get a good look at the Vault Hunters from behind, but her guide reveals a Vault symbol on the back of her jacket. Could this just be throwing in the game’s logo or does she have a special connection to the Vaults other than being a Siren? We learn a bit about Moze’s ability from her PDF. Apparently, she can summon a mech called Iron Bear that reminds me a lot of D.Va’s mech in Overwatch. She is an ex-Valdof soldier and her Class Mod appears to be a canteen.

FL4K is an AI with a Frankenstein-like robot body. As a Beastmaster, he has Skag, Jabber, and Spiderant companions. His Class Mods look like plushy pet toys of the monster companions. Zane, who has a cool name, uses drones, kind of like Wilhelm in The Pre-Sequel. From the look of his drone, it might crawl like a spider. Call me crazy, but the drone’s design from the top-down perspective kind of looks like a spider, which would add to the spider motif Zane has going on with his jacket. As an Operative, his Class Mod is a pair of binoculars. Borderlands 3 will be available on September 13th on PS4, Xbox One, and PC via the Epic Games Store.

You can find a lot more details that we could not cram in here in the PDFs themselves. Let us know what you think of them in the comments below.
