Dust Off Some Old Guns On Xbox One
Three more rootin’-tootin’ shoot ’em ups join the Xbox One‘s backwards compatibility list today including an immensely troubled sequel, a cult hit, and a spinoff with lukewarm reception.
Of course, the aforementioned troubled sequel is none other than Duke Nukem forever, which notoriously spent 15 years in development hell before releasing to widespread disappointment (though to be fair, there are those out there who love it, for better or worse).
The cult hit is The Darkness, based on the comic series of the same name which follows the story of mob hitman Jackie Estacado, who discovers that his body has been inhabited by an otherworldly demonic being. Think Venom, but with more tentacles. It features a dark and grimey New York City setting and the entirety of the film adaptation of To Kill a Mockingbird, which you can watch with Jackie’s girlfriend Jenny – it’s a nice moment. A sequel was released in 2012 from Warframe developer Digital Extremes.
The final addition is The Bureau: XCOM Declassified, which is indeed set in the same universe as the popular XCOM strategy games, but this time told as a squad-based third person shooter set in the 1960s.
Players who own the games on disc can simply pop them into their Xbox One and let the nostalgia wash over them, and those who are looking to try out something new from yesteryear can find all three discounted in the Xbox store right now. Let us know if you’ll be jumping into any of these in the comments!
