Will it be called ‘Reign of Terror’?
With the amount of post-launch support that the game has seen, one could forget that Diablo 3 released back in 2012. But it did, and it seems like we’re due another installment. A new poster a t-shirt on the Blizzard store may have teased the impending announcement of Diablo 4.
Blizzard will reveal the future of Diablo at BlizzCon 2018, which could bring a new installment into the limelight. If the shirt and poster are any indications, the fourth entry will be called ‘Diablo: Reign of Terror.’ Or, the shirt may be a simple nod to the in-game achievement you can obtain in Diablo 3 – You earn it by killing Diablo in Hardcore mode. Nevertheless, we know the legendary dev/publisher has something new in store regarding their hellscape franchise, something besides the Nintendo Switch port.
Back in August, community manager Brandy Camel said the team had something “burning hot” in the works for Diablo.
“We’d also like to let you know, that the forges here at Blizzard are burning hot, and we have multiple Diablo projects in the works,” Camel said. “Some of them are going to take longer than others, but we may have some things to show you later this year.
“We hope you stay tuned while we work to bring these new Diablo experiences to life.”
What should we expect from this year’s BlizzCon? There will be a Blizzard panel called ‘Diablo: What’s Next,’ during which we can anticipate news on a new installment or new expansions. Camel did say there are “multiple” projects in the works – For all we know, one of them is a mobile game. Six years after the last sequel, however, I think many fans will be surprised if we don’t, at the very least, catch a glimpse of Diablo 4. What are your thoughts?
