Crisis on the Planet of the Apes VR Now Available on All Major VR Platforms
Crisis on the Planet of the Apes VR is now available on PlayStation VR, Oculus Rift, and HTC Vive. Its creators, FoxNext VR Studio in partnership with Imaginati Studios, have brought to life a brand new Planet of the Apes world in which a fully first-person action-adventure VR game takes place.
In Crisis, the human world is ravaged to the brink of extinction by the Simian Flu and a desperate pursuit for a cure is underway. Stuck between human and simian worlds, players assume control of an ape with advanced intelligence captured and imprisoned in a locked-down science facility, climbing, jumping, and fighting their way through the chaos for an answer.
An innovative set of motion mechanics makes this title unique, immediately giving players the abilities to make the experience of being a massive ape that much more visceral. They’ll feel the strength and vigor of an ape when running, climbing, and moving to cover while encountering survivors, both human and simian, of the global catastrophe.
“There’s power in being able to feel both the physical aspects and emotional conscience of an Ape with advanced intelligence. Players will move like an ape while experiencing first-hand, the discrimination and reprehensible treatment of the Apes in this universe,” said Brendan Handler, SVP & GM, FoxNext VR Studio.
The potential for Crisis on the Planet of the Apes VR to touch on emotionally charged themes through its story will be amplified by the premium surround sound experience developed in partnership with DTS for Oculus Rift and HTC Vive. FoxNext VR Studio knows how crucial sound design is to a virtual reality title and has gone the lengths needed to ensure the final product delivers in that department.
“The Crisis on The Planet of the Apes storyline becomes even more compelling as players experience immersive audio from DTS. It heightens the senses and brings you even deeper into the story,” said Geir Skaaden, EVP and Chief Production and Services Officer for Xperi Corp.
With a pedigree spanning projects like Alien Covenant: In Utero VR Experience and Isle of Dogs: Behind the Scenes, FoxNext VR Studio should be able to deliver a deeply engrossing virtual reality experience.
