With 90s Style Graphics and a Surreal Atmosphere, This Horror Game Sure Does Look Unique!
Paratopic, a surreal PC horror game that uses the blocky graphics of 90s video games, is out now. The game is currently being sold for $5.49 and there’s also a Soundtrack Edition that costs $8.99. According to one of the developers, Paratopic is inspired by Twin Peaks.
You can watch the game’s trailer below!

“A surreal, grainy fever dream into the evening,” reads the game’s official description. “An assassin prepares for her kill, a man is strong armed into smuggling contraband VHS tapes over the border and young girl finds the rusted remnants of illicit industry deep in the forest…”
One of the developers of the game described it as a “Twin Peaks tinged hallucination” and an adventure game. The game’s story follows the three characters described in the description and their perspectives.
Aside from that, not much else is known about this mysterious (and frankly kind of eerie-looking) indie title. Its retro graphical style certainly seems interesting and a Twin Peaks inspired story isn’t something attempted often in video games due to how weird the actual show is. All that along with the trailer that has a woman with a face inside of her face…well, I’d certainly like to know what’s going on with that!
Gamers, what do you think? Will you be giving this free indie game a try or are the graphics too old school for you to bother? Have you already played it? If so then what’d you think of it? Let us know your thoughts and opinions in the comments section below!
