No Regalia Needed
[Beware of Final Fantasy XV Spoilers Below]
Over on NeoGAF, a post went up today linking to a YouTube video from gaming channel, edepot, that shows how to glitch out Final Fantasy XV so that Noctis can retain his Super Saiyan-like flight abilities in the game’s final fight and keep on flying in the game’s overworld. While the game’s overworld map was far better than Final Fantasy XIII‘s corridor-to-corridor layout, there were a few areas that we could only see through cutscenes, but not explore on foot. Thus, this glitch lets players explore plenty of those closed-off areas.
To start, you’ll need to beat the game and have a save file just before the final battle with Arydn. From there, you stumble-glitch your way out of the last fight until you reach the final area’s lodge room that lets you save and teleport away. There, you’ll fight Arydn in that cramped room which is pretty amusing to witness. You’ll have to juggle getting that save and teleport prompt from being in that room during the fight until you Noctis goes Goku. Overall, it’s a pretty convoluted process, but the 12-minute video below details each step.
As mentioned, there are plenty of regions in the game that you can fly around such as the gorgeous Altissia without having to deal with the cumbersome gondola system. You’ll even get to fly under Shiva’s corpse too! Perhaps, the greatest gameplay feature from this glitch is that you’ll be able to fly to the roof of the non-combat, all-puzzles Pitioss Dungeon and claim the top prize for finishing it. Again, that dungeon features platforming for a game which has pretty clunky controls for jumping and its difficulty was harder than any boss in the game.
If you’re curious, try the glitch out before it gets patched out.
