Get Ready for Northern FanCon in Prince George, BC! (May 5th – 7th at the CN Centre)
Pack you bags, get your Cosplay gear together and book the first weekend of May off because you’re going to Northern FanCon! On May 5th, 6th, and 7th, fans of everything geek are converging at the CN Centre in Prince George, BC for the third annual event and we’re hoping to see you there! That’s right, this year, COGconnected will be on the scene sharing all the fun with our favorite people in the world, you the readers!
So, what is Northern FanCon? I’m glad you asked! These kinds of “Con’s” have been popping up all over the world, so it stands to reason that organizers thought, why not bring an event to Northern BC? And what better place than Prince George, BC, the gateway to all of Northern BC. Northern FanCon brings all the awesomeness you’d expect from a Con. They have an Artist’s Alley which showcases the work of artists from all over the world. There’s plenty of Cosplay, from professionals and amateurs alike. Then there are the celebrities, and Northern FanCon has had an excellent list of past guests, and this year will be no different. You’ll get an opportunity to get autographs and pictures with the celebrities (but keep in mind, these are not included with admission and you’ll need to pay extra).
What are we in for this year? This year, the celebrity line up is possibly the strongest yet featuring: Mark Meer (Commander Shepard from the Mass Effect trilogy), Charles Martinet (the voice of Super Mario), Alicia Witt (Paula from The Walking Dead), Kevin Sorbo (Hercules), Sam J. Jones (Flash Gordon) and Karl Urban (Judge Dredd). But wait, there’s more! You’ll also come face-to-face with some of the world’s best cosplayers, including Leeanna Vamp, Andy Rae, Pigtails and Power Tools Cosplay Creations and Ali Williams A.K.A. OnlyAliCat. There will be “Creative Corner” workshops where people in the entertainment industry share their stories and successes with event goers. Oh, and there’s also the Super Sonic Speed Dating event – an opportunity to date a COGconnected writer? I’m not saying no… Needless to say, there is a ton going on at Northern FanCon!
Be sure to check out Northern FanCon’s Facebook page for up-to-date information on all the fun that’ll take place. And don’t forget to visit COGconnected.com during the event, where we’ll be sharing some of the excitement! But honestly, it’ll be more fun for you if you just go, so grab some friends and get some tickets!
