New Need for Speed Title Trademarked by EA
We may now know what the name is for the next big entry into the Need for Speed series. Coming off of last year’s back-to-basics title, Need for Speed received a lukewarm response from critics. EA really needs to shake things up to get gamers interested again. Earlier this week the publisher filed a European trademark for the name Need for Speed Arena.
According to the European Union Intellectual Property Office, the studio has applied for a trademark for the title in Nice classes nine and 41. These cover a broad range of goods and services, but most significantly, cover both video game software and online video games.
NFS is one of the longest running franchises in gaming history and has even spawned one of the more successful video game movie spin-offs of our time. We’d really like to know what EA has up their sleeve to try and push the series back to the forefront of racing fan’s minds because their reboot of the series last year was nothing like what we’d hoped for.
Keep it locked to COGconnected for more info on Need for Speed Arena as we have it.
