No Man’s Sky Delayed, to Launch in August
Previously we had reported on a rumour from Kotaku that the ambitious sci-fi adventure game, No Man’s Sky, has been delayed. Those rumours have now been confirmed in a Playstation blog post by developer Hello Game’s Sean Murray, the game’s creative director. Instead of the expected June release, the highly anticipated game will now be released in August.
In his blog post, Murray stated that the game “needed extra polish” and that the team was “prepared to make the tough choices to get it right.”
“This is the hardest working, most talented team I’ve ever worked with, and I’m so proud of what we’re doing. For all our sakes though, we get one shot to make this game and we can’t mess it up,” Murray stated. “The universe of No Man’s Sky is incredibly vast. More than you can imagine. This is a type of game that hasn’t been attempted before, by a smaller team than anyone would expect, under an intense amount of expectation.”
Previously, No Man’s Sky was to launch on June 21st. Now the game will rocket into stores several weeks later, in North America on August 9, in Europe on August 10, and in the UK on August 12.
An anticipated game since its reveal at E3 in 2014, No Man’s Sky caught the eyes of many gamers with its unique look and seemingly endless opportunity for exploration in a procedurally generated open universe.
“To the loyal community who’s stuck by our side since the unveiling of No Man’s Sky years ago, we hope you’ll accept our sincere apology and I am humbly asking that you’ll still look forward to exploring our universe despite the slight delay,” added Murray.
“Development is genuinely going well.”
