The Last Cat in the Universe Launches on Nintendo Switch This Month

Build the Best Cozy Home in the Last Cat of the Universe

The Last Cat in the Universe is getting ready to make the jump to Nintendo Switch. Apamate Studio has announced that the incremental narrative game will launch on Nintendo Switch on October 29, following its Steam release earlier this April.

The game puts players in the role of an AI aboard a dying space station where humanity has completely disappeared. There’s no civilization left to save and no crew waiting for rescue. Instead, players have one simple mission: keep the final surviving cat alive.

The Last Cat in the Universe

The Last Cat in the Universe combines relaxing mining mechanics with a short, narrative-driven adventure. Players will salvage debris from the collapsing station, gather resources, and unlock upgrades to reach deeper areas. Every upgrade provides meaningful improvements, but resources are limited, forcing players to balance better equipment with the growing cost of maintaining breathable air and a warm home for their furry companion.

There’s also a mystery waiting to be uncovered. As players explore the station, they’ll piece together what happened to its crew while collecting fragments of a mysterious lullaby. Music plays a major role in the experience, with the original soundtrack created in collaboration with Venezuelan singer-songwriter Diora Salazar. The soundtrack evolves alongside the story, moving from peaceful melodies toward a more emotional climax.

Designed to be completed in around 2–3 hours, the game skips endless grinding in favor of a focused story about care, survival, and finding warmth in a dying world.

After making its debut on Steam this April, The Last Cat in the Universe is now bringing its bittersweet space adventure to Switch. And honestly, that little cat deserves a safe home.
