Venezuelan indie developer Apamate Studio has released the demo for its upcoming horror game, Animas, on Steam today, along with a new trailer. It’s a first-person psychological horror experience in which players take on the role of an investigator exploring the Blanco family mansion in the remote mountains of northern Venezuela. Guided by a mysterious companion, Alma, players uncover the mansion’s dark history, spanning multiple generations of the Blanco family. And ultimately reveal the secrets steeped in violence, mysticism, and family drama.
Animas combines psychological horror with Venezuelan folklore, presenting fears rarely seen in games, from ancient beliefs to modern urban legends. The game emphasizes narrative exploration, environmental storytelling, and atmosphere rather than combat, stealth, or chase mechanics. Every detail of the mansion contributes to the tension, creating dread through observation and discovery rather than direct threats.
Sound design, visual cues, and the environment build a sense of suspense, drawing comparisons to titles such as Layers of Fear and P.T. As players explore, they piece together the Blanco family’s fragmented past and confront the haunting presence within the mansion.
