PlayStation Introduces New PULSE Wireless Headsets for PS5
Sony has unveiled a refreshed lineup of wireless audio products for PlayStation 5, introducing the new PlayStation Pulse Wireless Headset and Pulse Edge Wireless Headset.
The new headsets are designed around improved audio quality, connectivity and communication features, with both models featuring custom, studio-inspired planar magnetic drivers. According to Sony, the drivers are designed to provide enhanced sound separation and spatial accuracy for games.
Both headsets will support PlayStation Link, Sony’s wireless audio technology that enables lossless, ultra-low-latency audio. The connectivity system allows users to switch between compatible devices, including PS5 consoles, PlayStation Portal remote players, PCs and Macs. Supported Bluetooth devices can also be connected simultaneously.
For voice communication, the two headsets feature AI-enhanced noise rejection in their integrated microphones, designed to filter out background noise during in-game chat.
Sony has also updated the physical design of both headsets, adding rotating earcups that allow them to lay flat for easier transport. The company says the new form factor is designed with comfort and durability in mind.
PlayStation Pulse Wireless Headset
The PlayStation Pulse Wireless Headset is positioned as the more straightforward option in the new lineup. It features custom planar magnetic drivers, PlayStation Link connectivity and simultaneous Bluetooth support.
Additional features include AI-enhanced microphone noise rejection, while the headset will be offered in White and Midnight Black.
Sony says the Pulse Wireless Headset will begin launching in select markets during the 2026 holiday season.
Pulse Edge Wireless Headset
The Pulse Edge Wireless Headset adds several features aimed at players looking for more advanced audio and communication controls.
Its planar magnetic drivers feature double the magnet volume of those in the PlayStation Pulse Wireless Headset. The headset also includes active noise cancellation, a detachable boom microphone, and built-in Game Audio and Chat Balance controls for PS5.
A carrying case will be included, and the Pulse Edge will also be available in White and Midnight Black.
The headset is scheduled to launch beginning in early 2027.
