The Name Is Pond, James Pond
System 3 has unveiled the first gameplay trailer for James Pond Legacy: The Pond Is Not Enough, giving fans their first real look at the classic secret-agent platformer collection in action ahead of its Nintendo Switch 2 debut.
The upcoming release brings together 12 versions of four iconic James Pond titles from the Amiga 500, Sega Mega Drive/Genesis, Super Nintendo Entertainment System, and Commodore 64. The collection includes James Pond: Underwater Agent, James Pond 2: RoboCod, and James Pond 3: Operation Starfish. As well as the Aquatic Games Starring James Pond and the Aquabats.
Beyond the games themselves, the collection offers an interactive “Pondverse” hub packed with character profiles, villain biographies, franchise history, level details, original game packaging, and a complete timeline celebrating the series’ legacy.
The newly released trailer also introduces “Maybe,” an original studio-recorded theme inspired by the villain Dr Maybe. System 3 plans to release the song on streaming platforms before the game launches in October.
To modernize the retro experience, James Pond Legacy includes multiple save slots, controller rumble, adjustable scanline filters, in-game audio controls, custom display bezels, and support for English, French, Italian, German, and Spanish.
System 3 will release the collection as a limited physical edition, with production capped at 6,000 copies worldwide. The company confirmed an October 2026 launch for Nintendo Switch 2. The exact release date and purchasing details will be announced later.
For longtime fans, this looks like a nostalgic celebration of one of gaming’s most memorable underwater heroes.
