Frontier: Path of Shadows Has Officially Landed on Steam

Adapt and Survive in Frontier: Path of Shadows

Indie developer Oduvan Games has officially released Frontier: Path of Shadows, a hard sci-fi turn-based tactical RPG, on Steam. The launch marks the studio’s first major PC title after two years of development.

The game follows Jay and the crew of the Simurgh as they travel through a fractured region of space shaped by the aftermath of the Interstellar War. As rival factions fight for control, players explore planets, nebulae, asteroid fields, and abandoned wrecks while completing contracts, tackling side missions, and uncovering the mystery of the powerful alien Symbiont bonded to Jay.

Unlike traditional grid-based strategy games, Frontier: Path of Shadows uses interconnected tactical points that reward smart positioning. Players can push enemies into hazardous locations, combine each crew member’s unique abilities, and customize their squad with weapons and equipment of varying rarities. Procedural battle conditions and changing enemy encounters also keep every fight unpredictable.

Beyond combat, the game offers an open sector filled with exploration, random events, resources, and faction-driven choices. Players can strengthen relationships with competing groups, while a nonlinear story allows decisions made during dialogue, exploration, and battles to influence the Symbiont’s behavior and ultimately shape the ending.

Oduvan Games says post-launch support will include updates, balance changes, and additional content, with future chapters already planned for the wider Frontier universe.

For fans of challenging tactical RPGs and rich sci-fi storytelling, Frontier: Path of Shadows looks like a promising new adventure that is worth diving into.
