Team Up With Robotic Co-Workers in Dimensional Double Shift
Owlchemy Labs has announced a major update for Dimensional Double Shift, revealing that the chaotic co-op VR game will receive a dedicated Single-Player Mode in the first half of 2027. The studio also confirmed that the game is coming to Steam Frame, while controller support is now available on Meta Quest and Galaxy XR devices.
The new mode lets players enjoy the full DDS experience without relying on friends or public matchmaking. Solo players will team up with T.E.M.P.s (Totally Expendable Multi-dimensional Personnel), robotic coworkers that assist with everyday tasks. These machines can fetch supplies, pass ingredients, and help keep the Gas N’ Grill running smoothly.
Owlchemy Labs says the feature uses non-generative AI to understand spoken player requests. And the devs wrote every line of dialogue in the game. This allows players to communicate naturally with their AI crew while completing shifts at their own pace.
CEO of Owlchemy Labs, Andrew Eiche, said the goal is to make Dimensional Double Shift as accessible as possible, whether that means playing solo, using a controller, or jumping in through a new platform like Steam Frame.
The announcement follows a strong year for the VR title. Since launching its open beta, Dimensional Double Shift has surpassed 1 million downloads, with players logging over 2.5 million hours. They have even completed 6.1 million shifts and finished more than 20 million tasks across the omniverse.
Single-Player Mode will launch as a premium feature in the first half of 2027, with pricing details to be revealed closer to release. For players who have been waiting to enjoy the game alone, this update could make every shift much easier to clock into.
