ALLFATHER Is a Brutal First-Person Roguelike Heading to Steam in 2027

Fight Against the Judgement in ALLFATHER

Tommy McKay, the developer behind the self-published roguelike Gnomes, is taking players into the depths of Norse mythology with ALLFATHER, a brutal first-person roguelike coming to Steam in 2027.

The game puts players in the role of a fallen shieldmaiden who refuses to accept the judgement of the Valkyries. To prove herself to the gods, she must fight her way through Helheim and climb toward the halls of Valhalla.

ALLFATHER’s combat is built around stamina, precision, and patience. Players will have to carefully manage their attacks, movement, and timing as they face the enemies. This ranges from hordes of undead creatures to deadly elite enemies. Button mashing won’t get you far, as even a small mistake can bring a run to an end.

Each run takes players through different realms inspired by Norse mythology. And every area offers its own environments, enemies, challenges, and bosses. Players can choose rewards at branching points and use blessings from the gods to shape their builds throughout each run. Death remains permanent, but players can carry the runes and iron they collect back to Hel’s hall to unlock persistent progression between attempts.

McKay says the goal is to keep the focus on mastering combat and adapting to different builds rather than managing inventory items or bookkeeping.

With its harsh combat, mythological setting, and emphasis on learning from every death, ALLFATHER looks set to give roguelike fans another tough climb when it launches in 2027.
