Well Dweller Will Begin Its Twisted Fairy Tale to PC and Consoles Next Month

Burn the Wicked Queen in Well Dweller

Top Hat Studios and developer Kyle Thompson have announced that Well Dweller, the upcoming dark-fairy-tale Metroidvania, will officially launch on September 22, 2026. Following its reveal during a Nintendo Indie World showcase, the game will arrive on Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam.

The Nintendo Switch 2 version will take advantage of the newer hardware with higher-resolution visuals and improved texture quality. Xbox players also have something extra to look forward to, as Well Dweller will be available through Xbox Game Pass on day one for both console and PC.

Developed by Kyle Thompson, known for indie Metroidvania favorites such as Crypt Custodian and Islets, Well Dweller takes players into a strange and unsettling kingdom filled with bizarre creatures, secrets, and memorable characters.

Players take control of Glimmer, a tiny bird armed with nothing more than a matchstick. His mission is as grim as it is unusual: defeat the wicked queen before his family is turned into part of her royal gown.

As Glimmer explores the twisted kingdom, players will battle dangerous monsters, uncover hidden areas, gain new abilities, and unravel the mysteries buried beneath the queendom.

With its unusual premise, hand-crafted world, and distinctly creepy fairy-tale atmosphere, Well Dweller is shaping up to be another interesting addition to the Metroidvania genre. Fans of Thompson’s previous games may want to keep an eye on this one when it arrives in September.
