Echoes of Elysium Is Now More Dynamic Than Ever
Things are about to get a lot more unpredictable in the skies of Elysium. Loric Games and Snail Games USA have rolled out the major Tempest update for Echoes of Elysium, bringing dynamic rain and wind systems to the airborne survival RPG, along with a range of balance changes and quality-of-life improvements.
The biggest addition is the new weather system, and it’s far more than just something to make the world look prettier. Rain can now directly affect your airship, making ship components and stored items wet and increasing their weight and drag. Some stations can even become unusable when they get soaked. Thankfully, everything will gradually dry out once the skies clear.
Wind has also become a much bigger factor when sailing. Stronger and more unpredictable gusts can make navigating against the wind considerably tougher, while the developers have rebalanced sails, thrusters, and ship weight to work with the new mechanics.
The update also brings some welcome quality-of-life improvements. The ship encumbrance bar now shows how much weight players will add when building something and how much they will remove when destroying it. The developers have also improved build-mode and station tooltips, adding useful details such as weight and speed. Also, scrap metal piles will no longer spawn underground, while music and sound effects have received a fresh round of tweaks.
Echoes of Elysium lets players build customizable airships, gather resources, craft equipment, explore a fractured world, and battle dangerous clockwork creatures. You can also bring along up to five friends for six-player co-op.
With weather now capable of genuinely affecting your adventure, the skies of Elysium just became a whole lot more interesting.
