Contact Protocol Is Heading to PC and Consoles in Spring 2027

Become a Security Officer in Contact Protocol

Kinetic Publishing and Cold Zephyr Games have revealed Contact Protocol, a starship job simulator that puts players in the middle of tense decisions aboard a spaceship. Set in a gritty cassette-future filled with CRT screens and aging technology, the game is heading to PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2 in Spring 2027.

Contact Protocol

Unveiled during the Kinetic Publishing Showcase, Contact Protocol puts players in the role of a security officer aboard the Pale Horse, a GalCo mining vessel travelling toward Jupiter’s largest moon. The job sounds straightforward at first, but things quickly become complicated when other ships approach.

Players must examine incoming vessels, verify the information they provide against company records, and decide whether they are friendly or potentially dangerous. However, every decision comes with consequences. Asking too many questions could waste valuable time, while failing to investigate suspicious details could put the entire crew at risk.

The pressure becomes even greater when players have to decide whether to launch torpedoes. Acting too cautiously could destroy an innocent ship, while hesitating could leave the Pale Horse vulnerable. On top of that, GalCo is keeping a close eye on every decision, with poorly handled paperwork potentially leading to legal trouble.

Lead Designer Mick Hunter said the game aims to challenge players by placing them under intense pressure when making difficult moral choices.

Contact Protocol certainly sounds like a game where even a routine workday in space can go horribly wrong. Players will have to balance company rules, personal judgment, and the lives of others when the game launches in Spring 2027.
