Boil Cabbage Make Soup Is Serving up a Cozy Demo at Steam Next Fest

Meet the Chef of Boil Cabbage Make Soup

Valorware has revealed a new game in the 9th Dawn universe, and it is nothing like what fans might expect. Titled Boil Cabbage Make Soup, the upcoming spin-off shifts away from traditional RPG elements and instead delivers a cozy idle experience built around a surprisingly skilled onion chef. The game is set to make its first public appearance with a demo during Steam Next Fest next week.

Boil Cabbage Make Soup is a desktop companion that quietly runs alongside your daily tasks. Players grow cabbage, cook soups, and serve a range of odd but charming characters drawn from the 9th Dawn series. Along the way, you can customize your floating island, style your onion chef, and invest gold to improve your soup production. The game continues to progress even in the background, making it an easy fit for multitasking, all while playing relaxing tracks from the series’ soundtrack.

Interestingly, the game also includes online multiplayer, allowing up to three players to connect, visit each other’s islands, and earn shared bonuses. It is a rare feature in idle games and reflects Valorware’s focus on making even simple experiences feel social.

According to developer Tom Au, the idea came from a mix of desktop companion tools and curiosity about what 9th Dawn’s creatures might do in their downtime. The project also helped the studio refine its 3D development process for future titles.

All things considered, this unusual spin-off feels like a lighthearted experiment that could quietly become a fun daily companion.
