Welcome to King’s Well
Turkish indie studio Fire Brick Games has released a playable demo for its upcoming roguelite poker deckbuilder King’s Well on Steam. The demo arrives alongside the game’s inclusion in Steam Deckbuilders Fest, running from May 4 to May 11, where players can get an early look at its unique blend of card strategy and roguelite progression.

King’s Well places players in a grim steampunk world where gambling comes with severe consequences. After being cast into a mechanical pit, survival depends on mastering a mix of poker mechanics and tactical decision-making. Players must feed strange, rusted contraptions with cards to activate attacks, defenses, and special effects. Building strong combos becomes essential, especially when facing increasingly dangerous enemies and powerful bosses.
The game features four distinct gamblers, including characters like the Iron Veteran and the High Roller, each offering different starting weapons and playstyles. Progression unfolds across a procedurally generated map filled with encounters, random events, and risky decisions. Every step forward presents a new challenge, making each run feel different.
Combat revolves around more than just playing cards. The cards left unused in hand can trigger bonus effects tied to classic poker combinations such as pairs, three of a kind, and flushes. This system adds an extra layer of depth, rewarding careful planning and smart resource management during every turn.
With its creative mechanics and dark setting, King’s Well stands out in the growing deckbuilder genre. The newly released demo offers a solid introduction, giving players a chance to explore its systems and see how far their strategies can take them toward escape.
