Tyr Playtest Is Also Live on Steam
Stoke Games has officially revealed that its upcoming multiplayer tank shooter, Tyr, is set to enter Early Access this summer. It will mark a major milestone after years of community-driven playtesting. The announcement arrived alongside a new trailer showcased during the Second Wind Showcase. You can check it out for yourself right below.
The latest footage highlights several standout mechanics that set Tyr apart. Players can expect a wide variety of specialized tanks, including one equipped with cloaking technology, another capable of deploying drones, and even a transforming vehicle that can take to the skies. Combat leans heavily into strategy, with mechanics such as targeting individual tank components and armor angling playing a crucial role. A disabled track can leave a vehicle stranded, opening the door for precise and calculated plays rather than chaotic firefights.
Designed as a free-to-play experience, Tyr emphasizes teamwork and thoughtful gameplay over quick reflexes. Each tank class offers a unique role, from scouting enemies in light tanks to delivering heavy damage from afar or pushing into close-range encounters with heavily armored units. Progression is built to respect player investment, avoiding pay-to-win elements and ensuring that gameplay remains balanced for everyone.
The playtest is currently open for requests on Steam, inviting players to get hands-on experience and contribute feedback ahead of launch.
“We’re excited to announce that Tyr is coming this Summer,” said Veigar Bouius, Co-Founder & Product Director at Stoke Games. “We welcome anyone who wants to join our amazing community of meme slingers and competitive players who are helping to shape this game at every step.”
With its strong focus on strategy and fair progression, Tyr is shaping up to be a promising addition to the multiplayer shooter genre. So, prepare yourself for its Early Access debut this summer.
