Lead Elite Warriors in Ex Sanguis
Lightbulb Crew, the studio behind Othercide, has officially revealed its next project, Ex Sanguis, and confirmed that the game will launch in Early Access on Steam on May 21, 2026. The announcement comes alongside a short but intense trailer that showcases the game’s striking visual identity, built around a bold mix of red, white, and black tones.

In Ex Sanguis, players step into the role of a commander leading elite warriors known as the Stillae. Their mission is to fight back against a mysterious force of stasis that threatens to consume a dying world. The game blends roguelite progression with tactical, turn-based combat that clearly draws inspiration from XCOM’s gameplay, while introducing its own unique systems.
One of the standout mechanics is the Timeline Effects system, which allows players to manipulate the flow of battle. Actions can hasten, delay, or even swap positions on the timeline, giving players a powerful way to control turn order and outmaneuver enemies. This adds a strategic layer that rewards careful planning and precise execution.
Environmental interaction also plays a key role in combat. Players can trigger explosions, ignite enemies, or block movement paths while using spatial tactics like knockbacks, flanking bonuses, and damage-over-time effects to gain the upper hand.
The newly released trailer offers a brief but impactful look at gameplay, ending with confirmation of the May 21 Early Access release date. Check it out right below.
