Take a Look at The Ember Guardian
Developer Ratbit Games and publisher Slug Disco have confirmed that their roguelike strategy title The Ember Guardian will launch on April 17, 2026. The release will take place during Slug Disco’s Earth Appreciation Festival on Steam, following a strong showing at the recent Steam Next Fest.
To mark the announcement, the developers have also released a new trailer showcasing the full scope of the game’s content.
Set in a bleak post-apocalyptic world, the game introduces a more action-driven take on the familiar Kingdom-style formula. Players explore dangerous wastelands, gather resources, recruit emberlings, and build defensive camps to protect the Primordial Flame, humanity’s final hope. A wide selection of weapons, structures, and upgrades allows players to experiment freely and shape their own approach to surviving the threats that emerge each night.
Beyond the main campaign, the game features a procedurally generated Horde Mode that leans deeper into roguelike mechanics. Each run becomes increasingly intense as resources grow scarce and enemy waves become more aggressive. Completing levels rewards players with experience points. They can unlock new weapons, merchants, and upgrades using the experience for future runs, adding strong replay value.</p>
During Steam Next Fest, thousands of players explored the updated demo, which now includes a new tutorial, the opening three campaign levels, and a limited version of Horde
Mode. Progress made in the demo will transfer directly to the full release.
