The Ember Guardian Has Started Defending Its Base on Steam

Step Inside the Post-Apocalyptic World of The Ember Guardian

The roguelike strategy title The Ember Guardian has officially launched on Steam, as developer Ratbit Games and publisher Slug Disco bring their post-apocalyptic strategy experience to players.

Set in a harsh and broken world, The Ember Guardian revolves around protecting the last sparks of hope. Players take charge of a group of workers, assigning them to gather resources, construct a functional camp, and prepare defenses during the day. As night arrives, the focus shifts to survival, with waves of dangerous creatures attacking the base. To withstand these assaults, players can rely on powerful weapons that can be upgraded over time.

Ahead of release, the game’s demo attracted over 12,000 players, offering a glimpse into the full experience through the first three campaign levels. However, finishing these stages does not mark the end. Instead, it opens up Horde Mode, a survival-focused challenge set on randomly generated maps where the objective is to last as long as possible against relentless enemies.

Each run, whether in the main campaign or Horde Mode, rewards players with experience points. These points unlock a wide range of upgrades, allowing for stronger defenses and more refined strategies. Progress made during the demo also carries over to the full game, giving returning players a meaningful head start.

With its mix of strategy, progression, and replayability, The Ember Guardian offers a steady challenge for fans of the genre. In short, it arrives as a promising addition to the roguelike strategy space.
