Take a Look at the Ritual Tides
Independent developer Vertpaint has unveiled the first gameplay trailer for its upcoming first-person horror title, Ritual Tides. The new video gives players an early look at the game’s eerie island setting, tense exploration, and frightening encounters.
The new trailer introduces the mysterious world of Hortus, a remote British island set in the 1800s. Players awaken alone on its harsh shores and must survive while exploring bleak countryside landscapes, abandoned villages, and the crumbling remains of a once thriving community. The footage highlights the game’s unsettling atmosphere, hinting at the dangers and strange rituals that lurk across the isolated island.

Ritual Tides is developed by a veteran team that has drawn praise from Blizzard’s former director, Jonathan Berube, who described the developers as “the Seal Team of Game Development.” The project also features support from well-known horror author Adam Nevill, who helped guide the game’s script, adding to its dark narrative tone.
Popular horror creator Daz Games, whose audience exceeds 20 million followers, is also involved with the project. He will appear in the game as a character named Phineam, further expanding the world and story players will experience.
Vertpaint aims to deliver visuals that rival many modern AAA releases. To achieve this, the studio rebuilt the core first-person systems and combat mechanics from the ground up, allowing for smoother traversal, more intense encounters, and a stronger sense of immersion throughout the experience.
Ritual Tides is currently in development for PC, with console versions planned to release later this year. Players interested in following the project can wishlist the game now on its Steam page.
