Take a Look at the Gritty World of Nightholme
Studio Ellipsis has released a new gameplay trailer for its upcoming multiplayer horror hunting title Nightholme, offering a closer look at how its tense, player-driven matches unfold. The studio also confirmed that sign-ups are now open for a Closed Beta scheduled for Summer 2026.
The game begins each match with up to twelve players entering the eerie world as Grimrunners, a group of monster hunters navigating a dangerous landscape. The session starts at the Last Ground, a Brineheart camp on the outskirts of town, where players consume Nocturn to determine their archetype and abilities. While cooperation can improve survival early on, the experience is all about unpredictability, with shifting alliances and the constant threat of betrayal.
Rather than following fixed objectives, Nightholme emphasizes player choice. At the center of each match is the Terror Seed, a crucial resource for long-term progression. Players will hunt the powerful Gloomfiend for a valuable Terror Seed, take on faction quests, gather resources, or interfere with others to claim rewards. These actions directly drive progression, encouraging different playstyles.
A key mechanic is the transformation system. Players begin as Grimrunners, relying on stealth and strategy, but can become Grimspawn for increased power at the cost of greater exposure. This constant risk-reward balance shapes every encounter, making sure the experience stays intriguing and awesome.
With its mix of strategy, tension, and player-driven moments, Nightholme is shaping up to be a promising entry in the multiplayer horror space.
